Brazilian towns roll out major road‑paving and waste‑management programs

The municipality of Arcoverde in Pernambuco has launched a new phase of its "Pavimenta Arcoverde" program, allocating roughly R$24 million to asphalt and pavement work on more than 90 streets across the city and its districts. Mayor Zeca Cavalcanti said, "Pavimenta Arcoverde is one of the biggest urban‑infrastructure investments in our history," emphasizing the expected benefits for mobility, safety and property values.

In Aracati, Ceará, the EcoEntulho initiative of the city hall has surpassed 1,000 service requests since its launch, handling 535 waste‑transport operations and 559 material deliveries in May‑June. The program, which offers free collection of construction debris, tree‑pruning waste and large‑volume items, saw a sharp rise in usage during June, reflecting growing public awareness of proper waste disposal.
