Brazilian transit departments announce vehicle auctions

State transit departments in Brazil are moving forward with vehicle auctions. In Rio Grande do Norte, Detran-RN and the Civil Police have scheduled an online auction for November 10 involving 104 seized or abandoned vehicles. The auction, part of the ‘Pátio Livre’ program, includes various models such as Toyota Hilux, BMW Z4, and Jeep Compass, as well as motorcycles.

In Mato Grosso do Sul, Detran-MS has issued a 10-day notice for owners to retrieve vehicles that have been impounded for more than 30 days. Vehicles not reclaimed within this period will be auctioned as functional vehicles, salvageable scrap, or recyclable scrap. Owners may still face judicial collection for outstanding debts if auction proceeds do not cover the total amount owed.
