Brazilian U15 Copa do Brasil match paused by macaw attack on Flamengo defender

During the Copa do Brasil U15 third‑place match at the Granja Comary complex in Teresópolis, a blue‑and‑yellow macaw swooped onto the field and struck Flamengo defender Valmir Ribeiro, knocking him to the turf. The bird remained on the grass for about 15 minutes, prompting the referee to halt play. After it flew away, the game resumed, only for the macaw to return later, causing a second stoppage. Play continued once the bird finally left, and Ceará came from behind to defeat Flamengo 2‑1. The incident attracted widespread attention as a rare example of wildlife interrupting a football match.
