Brazilian universities host documentary and short film screenings
Educational and cultural institutions in Brazil are hosting film screenings this Monday. The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), through its Cine Cidadania project, will present the documentary ‘Memórias Camponesas’. The film explores the history of rural worker unionism in Brazil, covering the repression following the 1964 coup, the subsequent reorganization of the movement, and the role of women in union struggles.
Simultaneously, the Federal University of Roraima (UFRR) will host a showcase of five short films produced by local filmmakers from Roraima. These independent productions, supported by the Aldir Blanc and Paulo Gustavo laws, include the documentary ‘A Pele do Ouro’, which examines childhood experiences in Venezuela and gold mining in the Brazilian Amazon, as well as ‘O Chocalheiro’ and ‘Imperceptível’.
