Brazilian University Games 2026 see early medal successes

The 2026 Brazilian University Games (JUBs), held in Goiânia and Trindade, have seen significant performances from various student-athletes. The Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) delegation, consisting of 67 athletes, has already secured 15 medals across karate and para-swimming.

In karate, Rodrigo Nonato Lima Braz won gold in the men's individual Kata. In para-swimming, the Submersos Paranatação MS team earned 14 medals, including two golds, nine silvers, and three bronzes.

Representing UNINASSAU Campina Grande, Sávyo Silva secured a bronze medal in the Greco-Roman wrestling category (up to 87 kg). This marks Silva's eighth participation in the competition, where he has accumulated over eight career medals.

The games feature approximately 9,000 participants from over 370 educational institutions across Brazil, competing in 15 different modalities.
