Brazilian Vila Reencontro Communities Hold Multicultural June Festival
In June, three Vila Reencontro neighborhoods in Brazil – Anhangabaú, Cruzeiro do Sul and Pari – organized a "Festa Junina de Todos os Povos" to celebrate traditional Brazilian June festivities while highlighting the cultural diversity of their residents. The events brought together Brazilian families and immigrants, featuring banner‑making, live music, typical foods, quadrilhas, photo booths and games for all ages.
The celebrations were coordinated with the municipal Secretariat of Assistance and Development (SMADS) and the Secretariat of International Relations (SMRI). Representatives of the Argentine embassy and various community organizations attended the Pari venue, underscoring the emphasis on intercultural exchange and community bonding.
Organisers noted that the festival not only preserved a beloved Brazilian tradition but also fostered mutual understanding among people from multiple nationalities living in the Vila Reencontro settlements.
