Brazilian voters in Lisbon participate in presidential runoff

Brazilian citizens in Lisbon are participating in the second round of the presidential elections, with the University of Lisbon serving as a major polling site featuring 103 electronic voting machines. The atmosphere at the Cidade Universitária has been marked by political division, with supporters of both Lula da Silva and Flávio Bolsonaro gathering to express their views.

Brazilian Consul-General Alessandro Candeas estimated a voter turnout of approximately 50% in Lisbon, which translates to roughly 38,000 to 40,000 voters. This represents a significant increase compared to the first round, where participation was around 30%.

While the voting process was generally described as fluid due to voters being familiar with their locations, the Consul-General reported a serious incident involving the physical assault of a 17-year-old female voter shortly after she had cast her ballot. The consulate is reportedly monitoring the situation.
