Brazilian wine industry advances through harvest evaluation and tourism research

The Brazilian wine industry is undergoing significant technical and commercial developments. The Associação Brasileira de Enologia (ABE) has launched an operation to collect 569 wine samples for the 34th National Wine Evaluation – 2026 Harvest. Approximately 30 enologists are traveling to 84 wineries across 10 states and the Distrito Federal to collect samples directly from the source, including tanks, concrete eggs, and oak barrels, to ensure traceability and impartiality.

Simultaneously, the Escola de Enoturismo has expanded a national research project to map the growth of enotourism in Brazil. Following an initial phase involving 51 wineries from six states, the study aims to quantify annual visitors, professional employment, and the impact of tourism on winery revenue. The expanded survey is open to wineries nationwide until October 30 to provide a comprehensive diagnosis of the sector's challenges and scale.
