Brazil-linked drug trafficking cases lead to arrests and convictions

A Brazilian woman from Cascavel, Paraná, was arrested at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Indonesia, for international drug trafficking. Authorities discovered approximately 3.6 kilograms of liquid cocaine concealed within seven bottles of shampoo and body care products in her luggage.

Reports indicate the suspect may have been offered US$ 50,000 to transport the substance. Local narcotics investigators are currently working to map the supply network and identify other individuals involved in the scheme. Due to Indonesia's strict drug laws, the suspect faces potential sentences of life imprisonment or the death penalty.

In a separate but related crackdown on large-scale trafficking, Brazilian Federal Court authorities in Rio Grande do Sul issued sentences of up to 54 years in prison for members of a criminal organization. This group, investigated under Operation Hinterland, was accused of moving over R$ 3 billion through international cocaine trafficking between 2019 and 2022, often using commercial cargo destined for Europe to hide narcotics.
