Brazilian women Galdiana Silva and Liliane França da Silva announce federal deputy candidacies

Galdiana Silva, a justice officer from Rondônia, is a pre‑candidate of the MDB for the 2026 federal deputy election. She previously ran for a city council seat in 2024, receiving 141 votes, a result that underscores the state's historically low female representation in politics.

Liliane França da Silva, known as “Lili do Gari”, the widow of a garbage collector killed in Belo Horizonte, has registered as a federal deputy candidate for the PDT. She says her campaign “represents the voice of those who work, of those who face long hours, and of those who deserve dignity and opportunity,” turning personal tragedy into a platform focused on workers’ rights and social policies.
