Brazilian Women's Team Plans Match for Albertão Stadium Reopening in Teresina

The Federação de Futebol do Piauí (FFP), led by president Robert Brown, is negotiating with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to have the Brazil women's national team play a match in Teresina as part of the Albertão stadium’s re‑opening. The talks involve CBF president Samir Xaud and the state government, with the aim of scheduling the game for February 2027, ahead of the 2027 Women’s World Cup that Brazil will host. Brown said, “Estamos em conversa com o presidente da CBF, Samir Xaud… a expectativa é de que, em fevereiro, a seleção venha a Teresina para marcar a reabertura do Albertão.” The stadium’s revitalisation includes three phases: public‑funded upgrades to facilities and access, CBF‑funded improvements to locker rooms and turf, and final technological modernisation to enable large national and international events.
