Brazilian Youth and Adults Gain Guidance on Stock Investing and Savings Strategies
In Brazil, individuals under 18 may trade stocks, ETFs, and real‑estate funds through a custodial account linked to a legal guardian, according to data from the B3 exchange. As of December 2023, more than 35,000 investors aged 15 or younger were registered, and a 2023 Anbima survey found that 20% of Brazilian investors are between 16 and 25 years old. Minors cannot trade derivatives such as options, swaps or futures.
Financial advisers also emphasize that saving success often hinges on timing. Instead of waiting for month‑end leftovers, they recommend “pay‑yourself‑first” – directing a portion of each salary directly into savings or investment accounts. Automating these transfers helps avoid discretionary spending and builds wealth consistently over time.
