Brazilian youth athletes achieve international success in sports

Brazilian youth athletes are achieving significant success on both national and international stages in race walking and jiu-jitsu.

In race walking, 18-year-old Davi Gabriel Bastos da Silva represented Brazil at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon, USA. Having started his training at the Estação Conhecimento Serra social project, Silva has set several personal records in 2026, including a 45:43 time in the 10 km road race and a 20:35.95 time in the 5,000m event.

In jiu-jitsu, 12-year-old Gabriel Mesquita da Costa, representing Manaus's White House Jiu-Jitsu School, secured the gold medal at the Brazilian Kids Championship in Barueri. Following his national success, Mesquita earned a bronze medal at the Pan Kids IBJJF in Kissimmee, Florida, contributing to his academy's international medal tally.
