Brazilian youth teams win medals in regional gymnastics and national fencing
The Cotia rhythmic gymnastics squad dominated the Sub‑14 category at the 68th Jogos Regionais in Praia Grande, securing three gold medals, one silver, the overall team championship and the individual runner‑up spot. The trio of Anna Clara Ferreira, Clara Akemi and Eduarda de Jesus won gold in the ball routine, while the larger group also topped the hand‑free event. Coach Michele praised the athletes, saying, "This competition was very important for our team. We evolved compared to last year and our students gave excellent performances."
In Rio de Janeiro, the Pinheiros fencing club repeated its success by clinching the National Children and Pre‑Cadet Championship for the second time, earning 16 medals – five gold, three silver and eight bronze – across foil, sabre and épée. Coach Bernardo Schwuchow highlighted the effort, noting, "The children played very well throughout the tournament and applied everything we trained them on over the four days of competition. The club has maintained its dominance in the youth categories and now prepares for the Brazilian championships in September."
