Brazilian zoos host wildlife and environmental education events

Various zoos in Brazil are hosting educational activities focused on biodiversity and wildlife conservation.

The Guarulhos Municipal Zoo is organizing free sessions on August 18 and 20 to raise awareness about the impacts of pollution and improper waste disposal on the environment and animals. The program includes discussions led by environmental educators, an educational composting demonstration, and an exhibition of taxidermied animals.

In Belo Horizonte, the Zoo is hosting the ‘Zoo em Foco’ event on August 16. Centered on the theme ‘Exotic Mammals,’ the activity commemorates World Lion Day and World Elephant Day. Specialists will lead discussions regarding lions, elephants, gorillas, and hippopotamuses, showcasing biological materials such as elephant tusks and molars to educate visitors on species characteristics and natural threats.
