Brazilians favor domestic sports content on streaming platforms
A Go Magenta survey of Brazilian sports fans finds that 64% of respondents prefer streaming content that features national teams and athletes, while 36% choose international productions. Football remains the dominant draw, but motorsport, tennis, swimming, basketball and even baseball also attract significant viewership. The study notes that national pride influences the consumption of domestic sports, contrasting with films and series that continue to be dominated by foreign titles. Similar preferences are observed in other Latin‑American markets such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Mexico, though the research focuses on Brazil’s audience. Streaming services are responding by increasing investment in locally produced sports programming.
