Brazil's 2026 Cultural Programs Spotlight Poetry Sarau and Sesc Theatre Festival

The Sarau Cultura Alternativa 2026 took place in Brasília, featuring poet Jorge Amâncio who discussed his artistic trajectory, afrofuturism, racism, ageism and experimental literature in conversation with journalist, writer and musician Anand Rao. The event included a musical piece inspired by Zumbi dos Palmares and reflected on the changing cultural landscape of Brazil's capital.

Sesc Santana's Palco Giratório, in its 28th edition, runs from 6 to 30 August 2026 across São Paulo state as part of Sesc’s 80‑year anniversary. The festival showcases 16 theatre, dance and circus groups from 12 states and honors the 40‑year legacy of Grupo Sobrevento. Among the shows is “Frankinh@, Uma História em Pedacinhos” by Coletivo Gompa, a child‑focused adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein that explores isolation, bullying, friendship and creativity through a mix of narration, theatre, dance, visual arts and an original soundtrack.
