Brazil 2026 Election Calendar, Party Alliances and Candidate Polls

Brazil's 2026 general elections are entering a decisive phase. Party conventions and federations will be held between 20 July and 5 August to formalise candidate lists for president, governors, senators and legislators, and to confirm electoral alliances. The conventions also determine the distribution of the public election fund.

In the Espírito Santo race, the PSB announced its support for President Lula’s ticket, citing Vice‑President Geraldo Alckmin as a factor, while the party expects to win two federal deputy seats. In Pernambuco, a recent Paraná Institute poll shows Governor Raquel Lyra (PSD) leading the gubernatorial race with 46.8 % of intended votes, ahead of Recife mayor João Campos (PSB). A separate Action poll finds Senate candidate Eduardo Braga (MDB‑AM) ahead by nine points for one of Amazonas’s two Senate seats.

Deputy Helder Salomão (PT) disclosed ongoing contacts with an evangelical leadership group in Espírito Santo, highlighting the growing importance of religious voters in the state. Meanwhile, the Paraíba regional electoral court rejected requests for federal troops in Bayeux and Piancó, deeming existing security arrangements sufficient for the upcoming vote. All these developments shape the strategic landscape ahead of Brazil’s nationwide elections in October 2026.
