Brazil's 2026 Presidential Election: Party Neutrality and Alliance Talks

The Solidariedade party announced it will stay neutral in the 2026 Brazilian presidential race, giving its state branches the freedom to support any candidate based on regional political dynamics. Party president Paulo Pereira da Silva (known as Paulinho da Força) confirmed the decision at the Republicanos convention in São Paulo, where Governor Tarcísio de Freitas secured his re‑election bid.

Presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) said he respects the Progressive Party's (PP) choice to remain neutral but will continue seeking an alliance before the August 5 deadline to name a vice‑presidential running mate. Bolsonaro highlighted ongoing talks with other parties, including possible partnerships with the PP, União Brasil and Republicanos, while still considering alternatives such as former Caixa president Daniella Marques.
