Brazil's AGU seeks dismissal of U.S. lawsuit against Alexandre de Moraes
The Brazilian Office of the Attorney General (AGU) has requested the dismissal of a lawsuit filed in the United States against Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The legal action was initiated by the video platform Rumble and Trump Media & Technology Group in a Florida federal court.
The companies are seeking to block judicial orders issued by Moraes, which included restrictions on Rumble’s operations in Brazil and daily fines. The plaintiffs argue these actions constitute censorship and violate U.S. constitutional guarantees.
In its filing, the AGU argues that the lawsuit effectively targets the Brazilian state rather than Moraes personally. The defense maintains that the judicial decisions are sovereign acts protected by immunity under U.S. law. The AGU further noted that the contested decisions were endorsed by a collegiate body of five STF ministers.
