Brazil AGU seeks R$ 190 million in assets from PCC and CV
The Brazilian Attorney General's Office (AGU) has filed four civil lawsuits to recover R$ 190.3 million in assets linked to members of the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho (CV) criminal factions.
These legal actions utilize the 2026 Anti-Faction Law (Law 15.358), which allows for the civil forfeiture of illicit assets without the requirement of a prior criminal conviction. The lawsuits were filed in federal courts across the states of Paraná, São Paulo, and Rio Grande do Sul.
Three of the lawsuits involve 87 defendants and stem from investigations into PCC-linked smuggling operations involving Paraguayan cigarettes and prohibited pesticides, conducted under Operations Marola, Delivery, and Contaminatus. The fourth lawsuit, resulting from Operation Hinterland, targets R$ 108.2 million related to international cocaine trafficking to Europe and money laundering.
Authorities identified significant financial movements involving luxury vehicles, aircraft, precious stones, and shell companies. The AGU strategy aims to reach financiers, economic beneficiaries, and third parties used to conceal illicit wealth. Confiscated assets are intended to be invested in public security through the National Public Security Fund or state-level security funds.
