Brazil's Anima Education and MAG Investimentos announce large acquisition deals

Anima Educação disclosed the purchase of the full share capital of FMU (Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas) for R$410 million. The transaction, carried out through its subsidiary Rede Educacional do Brasil Ltda., includes an upfront payment of R$240 million and a later installment of at least R$170 million, subject to regulatory approval. Anima said the acquisition strengthens its presence in São Paulo and expands its offerings in law and health programs.

MAG Investimentos announced the acquisition of R$4.5 billion in FIDC assets from More Invest, raising its assets under management to almost R$25 billion. The deal brings a team of five professionals from More Invest into MAG. "Faltava essa estratégia no nosso portfólio," said Fernando Gabriades, MAG’s commercial director. MAG will continue to operate the funds using a model that avoids conflicts of interest, and it highlighted that FIDC structures are now more competitive than banks, according to director Cláudio Pires.
