Brazil’s ANPD Sets Deadline for First Specialist Competition

The Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) authorized the first public competition of the National Data Protection Agency (ANPD) to fill 50 specialist positions in data‑protection regulation.

The governing portaria, issued on 3 July 2026, requires the official notice (edital) to be published no later than 3 January 2027, and exams may be held at least two months after publication, likely from March 2027. Failure to publish cancels the authorization and its budget allocation.

Salary for the specialist career starts at R$ 17,726.42 and can rise to R$ 29,119.71 at the top of the scale, plus a food allowance of R$ 1,192. The career, created by Law 15.352/2026 and signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, transformed ANPD into a federal regulator and created 200 permanent specialist posts, converting 797 vacant administrative roles.

The specialist positions cover areas such as data protection, civil aviation, public energy services, supplemental health, telecommunications, maritime and land transport, sanitary surveillance, film and audiovisual activity, petroleum geology and geophysics, and fuel and natural gas. Prior to this, ANPD ran a temporary hiring round with 213 immediate contracts and a reserve pool of 1,704, offering salaries from R$ 2,019.77 to R$ 9,861.23.
