Brazil's Anvisa extends digital prescription deadline and bans three consumer products

The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) postponed the rollout of its National Controlled Prescription System (SNCR) from June 1 to September 30 2026. The delay keeps paper prescriptions for controlled drugs in use while pharmacies, doctors and health institutions gain additional time to adapt to the mandatory digital prescribing rules under RDC 1.000/2025.

Anvisa also ordered the suspension and recall of three items sold in Brazil: the Colgate Max Fresh Wisp mini toothbrush, the Sócio Rico perfume, and a sodium percarbonate bleach. The agency cited lack of proper sanitary registration and unauthorized manufacturing, prohibiting production, distribution, sale and advertising nationwide.

Both measures affect health professionals, retailers and consumers across Brazil, aiming to improve safety and compliance in medication dispensing and consumer product markets.
