Brazil's Anvisa suspends medication lots, seizes cosmetics

The Brazilian health regulator Anvisa published Resolução 2.238/2026 in the Official Gazette, suspending the sale, distribution and use of specific batches of enalapril maleate (20 mg) for hypertension and heart failure and the cancer drug Halaven (eribulin mesylate) from United Medical Ltda. The actions cite a quality deviation and a labeling error that listed the dosage as 10 mg instead of 20 mg. Consumers are instructed to stop using the products immediately, consult a doctor or pharmacist and contact the manufacturers for recalls.

In a separate decree (Resolução RE 2.237/2026), Anvisa ordered the seizure of several cosmetics and cleaning products that lack proper registration or are produced by companies without authorization. The measure bans commercialisation, distribution, manufacturing, advertising and use of items such as the perfume “Sócio Rico” (Sócio Rico Empreendimentos Ltda), 99.9 % sodium percarbonate (ANS Indústria Ltda) and a Colgate Max Fresh mini toothbrush of unknown origin. All listed lots must be withdrawn from the market.
