Brazil's August Heritage Month Kicks Off in Floresta and Belo Horizonte

The Brazilian municipality of Floresta (Pernambuco) will mark August as its Heritage and Cultural Month with a program of audiovisual screenings, educational activities, guided tours of historic sites, lectures and other events aimed at preserving and celebrating local material and immaterial heritage. The initiative is organized by the Floresta City Hall in partnership with the Fundação do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico de Pernambuco (FUNDARPE), the federal Ministry of Culture’s Aldir Blanc program, the regional education directorate and local cultural groups.

In parallel, Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais) will host a month‑long series of free cultural attractions across museums, libraries and cultural centers. The schedule includes workshops, exhibitions, discussion circles, musical performances, capoeira shows, braiding workshops and visits to historic buildings, highlighting the city’s diverse cultural identities and traditions.
