Brazil's B3 stock exchange delays opening due to technical issue

The Brazilian stock exchange B3 announced that the opening of part of its trading systems was postponed on Friday, 31 July, because required files were not processed in time and a component of the post‑trade environment malfunctioned. The delay was preventive, aimed at preserving the integrity of settlement information; the exchange ruled out any cyber‑attack.

The postponement affected the Mini Index and Mini Dollar contracts, whose trading was delayed, while other assets remained in auction until the technical issue was resolved. Some equities only resumed trading after 12:40 p.m., resulting in roughly two and a half hours of lost time for the cash market and more than three hours for certain systems. Investors attempting to use home‑broker platforms were unable to place orders during the outage.

B3 highlighted the role of its clearing house, the Câmara B3, which records, settles and guarantees all transactions, and explained that operating without full confidence in post‑trade records could pose operational risks.
