Brazil's Banco Master and founder Daniel Vorcaro face court actions with public defender involvement

The Procuradoria‑Geral do Distrito Federal (PGDF) secured a ruling from the Tribunal de Justiça do Distrito Federal e dos Territórios (TJDFT) allowing the public defender’s office to join the lawsuit filed by Banco de Brasília (BRB) against Banco Master, its founder Daniel Vorcaro, and other defendants as an interested party. The case, previously handled only by the bank’s own legal department, will now be heard in a public‑treasury court, reflecting the court’s view that the dispute concerns collective assets and public interest.

In a related proceeding, Vorcaro was ordered to pay R$ 5,678.69 in court‑costs after losing a defamation suit brought by investor Vladimir Timerman. The judgment required Vorcaro to cover the plaintiff’s legal fees, and the execution was pursued by Timerman’s lawyers. The case was notable because Vorcaro was represented by Viviane Braci de Moraes, the wife of Supreme Court minister Alexandre de Moraes, and the amount contrasts with a previously negotiated R$ 129 million consultancy contract with her firm.
