Brazil's 'Julho das Pretas' rally features concerts, municipal actions and documentary debut

The municipal government of Indaiatuba postponed the free "Show Vozes Pretas" concert to 19 July, featuring singers Sônia Di Morais, Juliana Alves and Marina Costa. The event is part of the national "Julho das Pretas" mobilization that celebrates the International Day of Black Women on 25 July and highlights the fight against racism and gender inequality.

In Poços de Caldas, the local Division of Policies for Racial Equality joined the nationwide drive, helping coordinate a program of 675 activities carried out by 292 organisations across 23 Brazilian states, the Federal District and three foreign countries. The 2026 theme, “Seguimos em Marcha por Reparação e Bem Viver”, continues the momentum of the 2025 Global March of Black Women, which gathered more than 300 000 participants from 40 nations.

In Salvador, a free screening of the documentary "Juntas pelo Bem Viver: Vozes da Marcha das Mulheres Negras" was held on 14 July at Cine Glauber Rocha, accompanied by the launch of a study reviewing a decade of progress and challenges for Black women’s rights in Brazil. The film and study trace the impact of the 2015 and 2025 marches and underscore ongoing demands for reparations and equitable policies.
