Brazil's Bolsa Família begins June disbursements to 19.3 million families
The federal Bolsa Família program started June 2026 payments on 17 June, releasing funds according to the final digit of beneficiaries’ NIS numbers. Families with NIS ending in 1 received the first instalment, followed by digits 2 on 18 June and 3 on 19 June, with the schedule continuing through 30 June. The programme reaches 19.3 million households in all 5,571 municipalities, allocating a total of R$13.08 billion.
The average monthly benefit for June is R$677.66, with higher averages in states such as Roraima (up to R$735.66). Additional components include a R$150 supplement for children aged 0‑6, a R$50 supplement for older children, adolescents, pregnant women and nursing mothers, and targeted support for vulnerable groups—282.7 k street‑dwelling families, 258.9 k Indigenous families, 302.8 k quilombola families, among others. Women head 84 % of beneficiary households, and 36.66 million recipients identify as Black or mixed‑race. Emergency‑affected municipalities (207) received early payments due to floods, droughts and other climate events.
