Brazil's Bolsa Família starts June payouts for 19.3 million families

On Wednesday, June 17, the federal government began the June disbursement of Brazil’s Bolsa Família program. Payments are staggered by the final digit of each family’s NIS, with the first tranche released to those whose NIS ends in 1 and the schedule running through June 30.

The minimum benefit is R$ 600 per family, with additional amounts of R$ 150 per child under six and R$ 50 for pregnant women, nursing mothers and adolescents aged 7‑18. The total transfer for the month exceeds R$ 13 billion, reaching more than 19.3 million families (about 50 million people). Around 2.26 million families qualify for the “Regra de Proteção,” receiving half the regular benefit after a rise in income, amounting to roughly R$ 369 per household.

Regional data show the Northeast receiving the largest share—over 8.9 million families and R$ 6 billion in payments—while the South, Southeast, North, Central‑West and Amazon regions each receive tens to hundreds of billions of reais proportionally. In the Amazon state, 625 000 families benefit, with an average payment of R$ 724.

Beneficiaries can access funds via the Caixa Tem app, debit cards, lottery houses or Caixa agency terminals, and must keep their CadÚnico registration up to date and meet health‑ and education‑related conditionalities to continue receiving aid.
