Brazil's Bolsa Família permits BPC accumulation and begins June payouts

Brazilian law now allows families to receive both Bolsa Família and the Benefício de Prestação Continuada (BPC). The BPC, paid at R$ 1,621 to seniors over 65 or persons with disabilities, is excluded from the per‑capita income calculation used for Bolsa Família eligibility, according to Law 14.601/2023. Recipients must keep their CadÚnico registration up‑to‑date; other pensions or retirement benefits still cannot be combined with BPC.

The June Bolsa Família payments start on 17 June for families whose NIS ends in 1 and continue daily through 30 June for the remaining NIS endings. The programme guarantees a minimum of R$ 600 per family, with additional amounts for children, pregnant women and infants, based on the household composition recorded in CadÚnico.
