Brazil's booming pet market drives construction of pet‑friendly housing

Brazil hosts the world's third‑largest pet population, with estimates of 150‑160 million animals and 63 % of households either owning or wanting a pet. Real‑estate developers are responding to this demand; Oca Construtora, for example, has made all 14 of its projects pet‑friendly and added dedicated "Pet Spa" and "Pet Place" facilities to new condominiums.

Studies show that pet ownership can lower stress, lessen feelings of loneliness, improve mood and encourage regular exercise, contributing to better physical and emotional health. These benefits reinforce the growing consumer expectation that homes should accommodate pets, prompting further investment in pet‑centric amenities across Brazil's housing market.
