Brazil's BPC payments for seniors and persons with disabilities scheduled for July 6‑7

The Benefício de Prestação Continuada (BPC) is a federal social assistance program administered by the INSS that provides a monthly payment equal to one minimum wage to low‑income seniors aged 65 or older and to persons with disabilities who meet strict income criteria (family per‑capita income below a quarter of the minimum wage). Payments are made on a calendar based on the beneficiary's registration number; for July 2024 the scheduled payment dates are the 6th and 7th for many recipients.

Eligibility requires proof of vulnerability and is reviewed every two years. Recipients must keep their data up‑to‑date on the INSS platform to receive the benefit. The BPC supports basic needs such as food, health care and social inclusion. In addition to the cash benefit, Brazilian seniors are entitled to other statutory advantages, including free urban public transport, possible exemptions from municipal property tax (IPTU), discounts on cultural and sporting events, and priority service in public facilities.

These measures aim to reduce poverty among Brazil’s elderly and disabled populations, offering financial stability and greater access to public services.
