Maricá expands CadÚnico weekend mutirões to boost access to Bolsa Família and other social benefits

A longitudinal study of Bolsa Família beneficiaries found that 48.9% – roughly 7.6 million people – left the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico) over a 12‑year period, underscoring the importance of keeping the registry current for continued program eligibility.

The municipality of Maricá is conducting CadÚnico update mutirões on Saturdays at the CRAS centers in Itaipuaçu and, subsequently, Mumbuca. The weekend sessions target families already registered with the local CRAS, aiming to reduce waiting times and ensure continued access to benefits such as Bolsa Família, the Social Electricity Tariff, the Continuous Benefit Provision (BPC) and other municipal assistance programs.

The federal government announced new Bolsa Família rules for 2026 that tighten data cross‑checks and make periodic CadÚnico updates mandatory to avoid suspensions or cancellations. In the Distrito Federal, the Cartão Gás subsidy of R$ 100 every two months is automatically granted based on CadÚnico information, making accurate registration essential for eligibility.
