Brazil's CadÚnico update may cut Bolsa Família payments in July

The federal government has revised the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico) registration rules that determine eligibility for the Bolsa Família program. Families must keep their CadÚnico data—such as address, composition, income and school attendance—accurate and update it at least every two years. Failure to do so, or a rise in household income above the program’s limit, can trigger a suspension of the July payment.

The Ministry of Development and Social Assistance is intensifying cadastral reviews, checking for inconsistencies between declared information and other government databases. Beneficiaries who have outdated records, income excesses, or other irregularities are instructed to visit local CRAS centers with required documentation to regularise their situation. Payment reinstatement depends on the outcome of the renewed analysis.
