Brazil's central states face temperature extremes this week
In Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, forecasts predict a week of clear skies, very low humidity and maximum temperatures reaching 38 °C, with daily lows around 17 °C. The ultraviolet index is very high early in the week and drops to low by Friday. Rain is expected only at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Mato Grosso do Sul will experience a strong cold front. Minimum temperatures may fall to 8 °C, while daytime highs climb above 30 °C in several locations. The front brings occasional fog and isolated light rain, but most of the week remains dry. Meteorologists note that the contrasting cold spell and heat could affect agriculture, water resources and public health in the region.
