Brazil's Centralised Self‑Exclusion Platform Reaches Over 570,000 Users

More than 574,000 people have used Brazil's government‑run Centralised Self‑Exclusion Platform to block access to authorized online betting sites. The Ministry of Health reports that 41% of requests cite loss of control over gambling and concerns about mental‑health damage, while data‑leak fears (18%) and financial problems (12%) follow.

The tool, launched by the Ministry of Finance’s Secretariat of Prizes and Bets in December 2025, lets users block all betting sites linked to their CPF for an indefinite period or up to 12 months; 69% chose indefinite blocks. It also provides mental‑health resources, a financial‑health questionnaire, and links to public health services. Minister of Health Alexandre Padilha highlighted the platform as part of a broader strategy to prevent gambling‑related harm, including a R$ 6 million grant for the first national research on betting and mental health, to be conducted by UNIFESP starting in 2026.
