Brazil's CGU expands transparency and school oversight initiatives

The Office of the Comptroller General (CGU) held the first ordinary meeting of the Council for Transparency, Integrity and Anti‑Corruption (CTICC) on 17 June. Representatives from government and civil society reviewed work‑group achievements, the 2025‑2027 Integrity and Anti‑Corruption Plan, and parliamentary amendment monitoring, emphasizing the role of technology, talent retention and broader public participation in improving governance.

Later in June, CGU officials visited the municipality of Brusque to launch the “Olhos da Escola” project. The initiative trains teachers, parents and students to help monitor public‑works contracts in schools, complementing technical inspections and aiming to identify risks early, improve resource use and foster community engagement in public‑investment oversight.
