Brazil's ex‑Banco Master founder Daniel Vorcaro faces probe over alleged illegal loan and family pressure
The defense of Henrique Vorcaro, the father of former Banco Master owner Daniel Vorcaro, says the family of Luiz Phillipi Mourão – known as “Sicário” – is demanding payments for contractual services, not for illicit activities. The lawyers argue that the charges stem from debts and alleged security work, citing documented contracts and bank transfers.
Police documents reveal that Joana Mourão, Sicário’s sister, pressured Vorcaro’s family after her brother’s suicide in a federal prison, threatening to expose compromising material. She wrote, “I have material to end the whole family.”
Federal investigators also uncovered messages showing Chamber of Deputies president Hugo Motta asking Vorcaro to release at least R$ 22 million to a company owned by his sister‑in‑law, and confirming a paid trip to Portugal on Vorcaro’s jet and luxury hotel stays in Lisbon. Motta maintained the loan was legal.
The case is part of Operation Compliance Zero, which examines possible financial fraud linked to Banco Master. Other figures mentioned include “Manolo” (Manoel Mendes Rodrigues), identified as facilitating payments to Joana Mourão. Vorcaro remains detained in Brasília while the investigation continues.
