Brazil's classic telenovela 'Selva de Pedra' added to Globoplay
The 1972 Brazilian telenovela "Selva de Pedra", written by Janete Clair and originally starring Francisco Cuoco, Regina Duarte and introducing a young Glória Pires, has been added to the Globoplay streaming catalogue as of Monday, 29 May. All 243 original episodes have been released in a condensed 76‑chapter format, making it the oldest Globo drama now available on the platform.
The series, which follows the ambitious Cristiano Vilhena's migration from the interior to Rio de Janeiro and his relationship with Simone Marques, was a landmark in Brazilian television, later remade in 1986 with Tony Ramos and Fernanda Torres. Its arrival on streaming provides new audiences access to the classic, along with behind‑the‑scenes facts about its creation and cast.
