Brazil's Clebinho and Portugal's Paracycling Team Prepare for 2026 World Championships in Alabama
José Cleber de Sousa Silva, known as Clebinho, has been selected by the Brazilian Cycling Confederation to represent Brazil at the UCI Paracycling Road World Championships 2026, scheduled for 4‑7 September in Huntsville, Alabama, USA. The former para‑athlete switched to tricycle paracycling this season, winning two gold medals at the Pan‑American Championships and national titles in the Tricycle MT1 category before earning his world‑team spot.
Portugal’s national paracycling squad is also preparing for the same event. Athletes Luís Xavier (C5) and Flávio Pacheco (H4) are undertaking an altitude training camp in the Serra da Estrela mountains until 22 August, under the direction of national selector Telmo Pinão. Pinão explained that the program includes weekly physiological monitoring and a subsequent sea‑level re‑acclimation phase to optimise performance for the September championship.
Both nations aim to field their strongest riders at the UCI‑sanctioned world competition in the United States.
