Brazil's consórcio market tops 13 million users, signaling growing investment demand

The Brazilian consortium (consórcio) system has surpassed 13 million participants as of May, according to a study commissioned by the Associação Brasileira de Administradoras de Consórcios (ABAC) and carried out by Okiar Intelligence. The research surveyed a broad cross‑section of consumers across all regions and social classes.

Overall awareness stands at 56 %, with higher recognition among men (67 %) and class B households (78 %). The most sought‑after assets are vehicles and real estate. Respondents cite building a financial reserve (36 %) and investing (35 %) as their primary motivations. Satisfaction scores average 8.0 out of 10, especially among those who have already received their credit. Intent to join a consórcio in the next year is moderate, with higher interest from existing participants than from newcomers. The main channels for joining are personal referrals (30 %), social media (24 %) and banks (23 %).
