Brazil's Cotia football tournament launches, Niterói surf contest opens

The Campeonato Municipal de Futebol de Campo in Cotia starts on 2 August, featuring 140 amateur teams and about 3 000 athletes across six city fields. The municipal government says the event will draw more than 10 000 spectators and, for the first time, there will be no relegation in any division. Organizer Jeferson Roberto noted, “O Campeonato Municipal já faz parte da história esportiva de Cotia.”

The 7th Tunel Crew Shootout Itacoatiara opens its competition window on 10 July in Niterói. The surf contest expands to 30 tube‑riders, offers over R$ 20 000 in prizes and benefits, and introduces a new leaderboard‑based format leading to semifinals and a final. Conditions at Itacoatiara are expected to be excellent during the three‑month window.
