Brazil's creative economy expansion drives demand for specialized legal services

The Brazilian creative economy is experiencing significant expansion, with the sector now employing approximately 7.79 million workers. This growth follows the creation of roughly 228,000 new jobs within a single year, according to data from the Observatório Fundação Itaú.

Despite this expansion, the sector faces challenges regarding informality and the need for legal security for artists, influencers, and entrepreneurs. In response to these demands, lawyers Natália Vasconcelos and Gabriela Cardoso have founded Cardoso Vasconcelos Advocacia (CVA) in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. The firm is the first in the region to specialize in law for the creative economy, focusing on areas such as intellectual property, copyright, digital law, and contract management to provide preventative legal planning rather than just conflict resolution.

Protecting intellectual property remains a critical necessity as business assets move from physical files to digital environments. Effective strategies include identifying high-value assets—such as software, brands, and unreleased projects—and implementing strict access controls to prevent leaks through digital communication channels.
