Brazil's Deputy Laura Carneiro pushes forward Pix pension and rural fire‑prevention payment bills

The Senate approved the “Pix Pensão Alimentícia” bill, which creates an automatic electronic transfer system for child support payments. The measure, reported by Deputy Laura Carneiro, will allow judges to order monthly Pix transfers directly to beneficiaries and to block debtor accounts when balances are insufficient. The bill now awaits presidential sanction by President Luiz Inácio Lula.

The Chamber’s Constitution and Justice Committee also approved a proposal to remunerate rural landowners, indigenous peoples, traditional communities and other vulnerable groups for actions that prevent and combat wildfires. Sponsored by Deputy Laura Carneiro, the amendment to PL 3942/24 integrates the payment into the Federal Environmental Services Program, sets a five‑year term starting January 2027, and limits certain federal taxes and water‑use fees on the received funds. The text will move to the Senate for further consideration.
