Brazil's DNIT closes BR-280 segment for bridge beam installation

The National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) will impose temporary traffic closures on the BR-280 highway between the 39‑km and 50‑km markers, covering the stretch from Araquari to Guaramirim. The closures are scheduled for Wednesday, 8 and Thursday, 9 (08:00‑17:00 each day) to allow the transport and installation of twelve steel beams for a new bridge crossing the Rio Piraí. The beams will be moved from a construction yard at km 50 in Guaramirim to the bridge site at km 39 in Araquari, escorted by a pilot vehicle, while crane operations remain on‑site without obstructing traffic. Drivers are advised to follow signage, plan alternate routes where possible and be prepared for brief interruptions, especially if rain forces a rescheduling. The work is part of the duplication of Lot 2.1 of the BR‑280, a project that began in 2014 and aims for full completion by 2026‑2027, improving connectivity across Jaraguá do Sul, Guaramirim, Araquari and surrounding municipalities.
