Brazil's Electoral Court Announces $2.2 million Cybersecurity and Disinformation Initiative

The president of Brazil’s Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE) said that technology, when used responsibly, can be an ally of democracy, but stressed the need for clear rules to protect the electoral process.

The TSE plans to contract a firm for five years at a cost of 2.2 million reais to monitor cyber threats and the spread of false information about elections. The monitoring will cover open‑source channels, social media, and the deep and dark web, and will track identified hacker groups.

The initiative aims to reinforce the integrity and transparency of Brazil’s electronic voting system while limiting opportunities for manipulation or fraud.
