Brazil's emergency safety initiatives: national congress in Mato Grosso and senior volunteer training in Rio

The 2nd National Congress of Emergency and Road Safety (Conesv) will take place from June 24 to 26 in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso. Organized by the state's Military Fire Brigade, the event will feature lectures, panels, workshops, a national vehicle‑rescue challenge and courses such as Rescue Training and Stop the Bleed, with participation from national and international experts.

In São João de Meriti, Rio de Janeiro, the municipal government certified 200 senior volunteers after a three‑module course covering risk‑reduction management, basic trauma life support and fire‑prevention. The seniors will join the community civil‑defense network to assist in emergencies, reinforcing local resilience initiatives.
