Brazil's Environment Week sees school birdwatching in Atibaia and community events in Itabuna

In Atibaia, the municipal Environment Week, running until 12 May, featured a bird‑watching activity called “Passarinhando” with students from Escola Municipal Eva Vallejo. Guided by biologists from the Secretariat of the Environment and specialist Sérgio Tuck, the pupils identified urban‑dwelling bird species around the Jardim Paulista lake, linking classroom lessons to local biodiversity and sustainability.

In Itabuna, the same week of environmental awareness included a cycling tour, a food‑drive for a local charity, an environmental fair for municipal school students, and an educational traffic blitz that distributed tree seedlings and information on sustainable practices. Public officials, technical staff and representatives from environmental agencies participated in debates and workshops on climate‑change adaptation, aiming to foster ongoing community engagement in environmental protection.
